Overview of Gameplay in the Evil Dead Game

The Evil Dead game is a fan-made project that promises to be as horrifying and gruesome as the movie series that inspired it. The game is currently in development and will be released on PC, Mac, and Linux. Players take control of a character named Ash as he battles against demons through three different levels of horror. Fans of the horror genre are sure to love this game!

Evil Dead Game Review

First things first: I was pleasantly surprised by how faithful the game adaptation was to the original film. There were no glaring omissions or changes in character design, which is great news for fans who love the film as much as I do. Now on to the rest of my thoughts…

  1. The character designs – Even though the graphics aren’t exactly state-of-the-art, they still looked great and captured the essence of the characters perfectly.
  1. The gore – This game is definitely not for the faint-hearted; there’s a lot of gruesome violence and gory details that fans of the source material will love.
  1. The atmosphere – This game really nails down the creepy, gloomy feeling that makes the original film so memorable.
  1. The replay value – There’s a decent amount of content here, from challenging levels to different endings that can be achieved depending on player choices. Plus, with more levels on the way post-release, there’s always something to look forward to.
  1. The Ash demon – Even though he only makes an appearance in a limited capacity (in terms of gameplay), his presence is definitely felt and lends an eerie vibe to proceedings.

Features in The Evil Dead Game

Fans of The Evil Dead will love the upcoming, fully-fledged game based on the film. In development by Blur Games, the game is set between the first and second films and follows Ash, his trusty shotgun, and the equally-tenacious Mia as they battle an aggressive band of undeadites. The game takes a mixture of role-playing and action elements, with players able to make choices that have consequences throughout the game.

To get a sneak peek at what to expect from The Evil Dead game, Rock Paper Shotgun have released a lengthy first look. For example, you can choose whether or not to help Buddybuild a pontoon boat so he can cross a dangerous river; shot off a jamming hand grenade that sets off an explosive finale, or save Sally from being devoured by a horde of maddened skeletons. All of your decisions have consequences – and if you saved Sally but lost Buddy in the process you’ll have to face her anger at gunpoint when next you meet up with the group.

So far, only five minutes of gameplay has been released but it already looks impressively brutal and nasty. Fans of horror games should definitely check out this one when it releases in.

Updates and Release Date

The Evil Dead game has been in the works for some time now and has seen a number of updates over the past few months. The latest news is that the game is now set to release next year, and we have some first-look pictures to show you!

Not usually one for horror, I was very much looking forward to playing this game. From what I could tell, it looked like an incredibly fun survival horror experience with an interesting twist, blending together different mechanics from other games in the genre in a very unique way. There are quite a few screenshots on their site which give you a good idea of what you can expect from the game- from hordes of disturbing, procedurally generated demons, to traps littered throughout the environment that will try to kill you.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this game and see how it compares to my other favourites – whether I make it out alive or not remains to be seen!
